Meet Needs with Prayer and Presence
Care + Prayer volunteers come alongside others with compassion and faith. Some pray regularly over requests. Others visit homebound or hospitalized members or send cards of encouragement. Each role may look different, but they all flow from one heartbeat: whether gathered in prayer or meeting someone at their point of need, Care + Prayer volunteers help others feel supported and surrounded by God’s peace.
Monthly Prayer Gathering
On the first Saturday of every month, our prayer team gathers to lift up the needs of our church, our city, and the requests that have been shared with us. You can join in person in the Conference Room or online from wherever you are.
Bible Study & Prayer Group
Every Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. in ADM-139, a group gathers to pray for missionaries, ministries, and the needs of our FBCLS family. After prayer, we explore God’s Word together.
Caring for One Another
Prayer leads us to action. At FBCLS, we believe every follower of Jesus can be a difference-maker through simple acts of care:
Homebound Visits – Bring encouragement and connection to members who can’t get out easily. Volunteers make monthly visits or phone calls, and help serve the Lord’s Supper each quarter.
Residential Care Centers – Join us in ministering at local facilities where residents long for friendship, prayer, and the hope of Jesus.
Hospital Visits – Come alongside those walking through illness or recovery with prayer, presence, and compassion.
Volunteer Screening Process
At FBCLS, we care deeply about creating a safe, welcoming environment for everyone—from our youngest preschoolers to our oldest members. Since volunteers in many of our ministries serve alongside minors or other vulnerable people, all volunteers complete a background check through Checkr.com before joining a team. After you apply, you’ll receive an email with next steps for that process. Once cleared, a ministry leader will reach out to invite you to a volunteer orientation.
