Making Disciples — Across the Street and Around the World

At FBCLS, missions isn’t just a program. It’s who we are. God invites us to join His work of making disciples—bringing hope, healing, and the good news of Jesus both here in Lee’s Summit and across the world.

When we step into mission together, we experience awe and gratitude as we see God use ordinary people to meet extraordinary needs. Whether it’s a medical clinic in Guatemala, a meal served downtown, or encouragement shared with a pastor in Cuba, we believe every act of love points people to Jesus.

Global Impact

Guatemala

Since 2008, FBCLS has partnered in Guatemala through medical care, children’s education, and church leadership training. One of our deepest joys is supporting Tabitha Ministry in Guatemala City, where children growing up near the city dump receive education, hope, and the message that they are deeply loved by God.

Cuba

In 2016 we began a partnership with 6th Baptist Church of Santiago, Cuba. Through friendship, leadership training, and resources, we have encouraged Pastor Joey Hernández and his church as they serve hungry families and share Christ in their neighborhood.

Local Impact

We don’t just send teams across the world — we also serve across the street.

Throughout the year, individuals, families, and Community Groups from FBCLS take part in hands-on service projects right here in our city. These aren’t big productions — they’re simple, meaningful acts of love that meet real needs and open doors to real conversations.

Whether it’s delivering meals, offering a listening ear, cleaning up a park, or creating care kits, we believe God’s love is most powerful when it’s visible. That’s why we’re committed to helping our neighbors experience it in personal, practical ways.

Mission Houses

When missionaries return to the U.S. for rest and renewal, short-term housing can be a challenge. FBCLS is grateful to provide two mission homes where global workers can stay rent-free. These houses not only meet a practical need—they create space for us to hear their stories, pray for their work, and build authentic relationships that stretch across cultures.
