Dear FBCLS Family,

If you’ve found this page, that probably means you’ve heard the news that Kimberley McElroy will be leaving us to take a position at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. I want to take the opportunity to tell you two important things:

1. We really appreciate Kimberley! God has used her in significant ways in the lives of our kids and families, and in the lives of all ages and stages of people in the church. She is a committed follower of Christ, a gifted communicator, a sharp thinker, and an excellent leader. Our kids know Jesus better and our church is stronger because of Kimberley’s ministry. I was hoping we would have her on our staff for another decade! We will truly miss Kimberley, Dan, Dawson, and the coming baby McElroy. You will hear communication soon about a reception in Kimberley’s honor that will give the church family the appropriate opportunity to express our gratitude to her.

2. Our ministry to kids and families is in great shape heading into this transition! We will certainly be sad to see her go, but we don’t have to be worried. God is not surprised by this change, and he has a good plan for the future of the ministries Kimberley has led. Our family ministry team is truly a team, and Rachel Esely and Matt Parker are already jumping in to make sure the ministry continues to thrive during this season of transition. Kimberley gave us advance notice that this move was possible, so I’ve been able to work with Rachel and Matt to make sure everything is covered. And Kimberley would tell you that most of the ministry is done by our amazing volunteers, so we don’t expect that to change. Furthermore, the great folks on the church’s personnel team are already praying for God’s guidance and provision in the staffing changes necessitated by Kimberley’s move.
